‘Work’, Charlotte Day Wilson

Perhaps it refers to the ‘work’ of romantic relationships, or perhaps it’s about the ‘work’ of getting along with others, or the constant ‘work’ of overcoming in order to succeed; but in light of the recent Women’s Marches happening across the Western world, singer/producer Charlotte Day Wilson’s recently released song, ‘Work’, takes on a new significance.

The simple video featuring a single shot of mainly women descending an escalator, along with the repetitive beat and the lyrics “Its gonna take a bit of work / Now that you’re here / Cause people come and go / But I think you should know / That I, I think this will work.” speaks of solidarity, a quiet optimism and the effort necessary to continue reshaping the status quo.
