‘Metal Resistance’, BABYMETAL

As you might expect from a Japanese metal band that’s fronted by three teen ‘Idol’ girls, there ain’t much homegrown when it comes to BABYMETAL.

What you may not expect, however, is that BABYMETAL are actually good. Singing songs about afternoon snacks, anti-bullying and a creepy but knowing track about a ‘Beg-dad-for-it’ operation, the contrast between this cutesy pop trio and the accomplished heavy-metal chaos that accompanies them couldn’t be starker. And yet the metal community have welcomed this cross-genre group wholeheartedly, with the trio performing as special guests for Metallica’s world tour and featuring in Kerrang’s ’50 Greatest Albums of 2016′.

Even if metal isn’t your cup of noise, BABYMETAL may be the bizarre modification you were looking for. Give their 2016 album, ‘Metal Resistance’, a go in the playlist below.
